A team of 27 staff members from Mittagong RSL are taking up the challenge and will be running, jogging, walking and probably by the end crawling in the 2019 City2Surf on Sunday 11th of August in an effort to raise funds for 3 important organisations – Breast Cancer Network Australia, Brain Foundation & Network Kokoda.

Why We’re Running

We are raising funds for 3 organisations who each provide invaluable services to our community.

Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA):

For 20 years, BCNA has worked tirelessly to ensure every Australian diagnosed with breast cancer receives the very best support, information, treatment and care. BCNA’s commitment to care, and fierce determination to ensure the voices of everyday Australians affected by breast cancer are heard,  has seen the organisation become the peak national organisation for those affected by breast cancer.

BCNA is not a group of people in an office, but a network of more than 120,000 members. More than 90 per cent of BCNA members have had a diagnosis of breast cancer, and the remaining members have had a personal experience through a family member or friend.

Brain Foundation:

The Brain Foundation is a nationally registered charity dedicated to funding world-class research Australia-wide into neurological disorders, brain disease and brain injuries. In operation since 1970, the Brain Foundation funds an array of projects aiming to advance diagnoses, treatment and patient outcomes.

The Brain Foundation receives no government funding, relying on the generosity of individuals, corporate donors and bequests, making any donation received that much more important.

There is no cure without research.

Network Kokoda:

Network Kokoda was established as a not-for-profit company by the Hon. Charlie Lynn. For 25 years, Charlie has led trekkers across the 130 kilometre Kokoda Trail. He established Network Kokoda as a not-for-profit charity to support workers, their families and the villagers who live and work along the Kokoda Trail through sustainable initiatives involving agriculture, education, health and leadership, all in partnership with the villagers along the Kokoda Trail.

By facilitating, strengthening and nurturing these ties between the people of Australia and Papua New Guinea – Network Kokoda is honouring the legacy of the Australians and Papua New Guineans who served in the War in the Pacific (1942-1945).
